The real deal

After all these years, we were FINALLY able to see our dear friend, Gracie Day, compete!!  We were counting down the days until the Alamo Classic Meet (gymnastics) and could hardly contain our excitement when we saw Gracie warming up for her first event.  My girls saw her jumping, twisting, flipping... and started shouting and cheering "Gracie! Gracie!  Go Gracie Go!"  It was too cute to see their love and enthusiasm for the girl that is never to busy to play tag, tickle them, hug them... the girl they are proud to call their friend.

I don't think I really knew exactly how talented Gracie was until I witnessed her amazing skills today.  She is so humble.   I've never heard her brag about how gifted she is or all the awards she has won.  My mom and I got a little teary-eyed as we watched our little Gracie perform her floor routine with incredible poise and grace.  We have known her since she was a tiny tot and even then, she was a fearless little dare devil.  We were remembering when she used to walk the "beam" a.k.a the ledge on our porch at 3 yrs. old.   A few years later she was climbing to the top of our b-ball pole, trees, and standing ontop of our monkey bars.   Speaking of bars,  Mya told me that her favorite part of the meet was seeing Gracie, "flip, turn, and fly off the 'monkey bars' ".  ;)
Nuff said.  :)  She got All-around 1st.  1st in beam.  1st in bars.  1st in floor.  2nd in Vault.
God bless this sweetheart!  As with most sports, gymnastics is very competitive.  Everyone is trying to be #1, striving to achieve their dream.  What we love about Gracie is that she hasn't lost her sweetness, her cheerful countenance, and her kind spirit.  What you see is what you get.  She's real, authentic.  To God be all the glory!
